The city of Douglas is located on the border between Arizona and Mexico. It is located in the Cochise County and it currently has more than 18,000 residents. The city was first founded because of local copper mines. Copper is one of the five "C's" of Arizona. These include Copper, Cotton, Cattle, Citrus, and Climate. The area also has a strong history of cattle ranching because of the abundance of open land. There are many historical sites to see while visiting the town of Douglas. Also, the Leslie Canyon National Wildlife Preserves are nearby and offer over 200 different species of wildlife. Bird watching is a popular activity because of the warm weather and clear blue skies.

There has been a lot of recent construction going on in the town, including a new Best Western hotel.
