Yuma is a city that is located in Yuma County in the state of Arizona in the United States. The population of Yuma is near to 100,000. Near to 85,000 retired families make Yuma their winter home. Native American Tribes were the first to settle in the Yuma area. In the early 1850s, steamboats were used for crossing the river in Yuma. Yuma is bordered by Colorado, California, Mexico, and the Gila River. Summers here are extremely hot and the winter months are quite warm. On rare occasions the city may suffer as tropical storm. Many jobs here are centered around the US Border Patrol, medical centers, and schools. More jobs can be located in the local Yuma, AZ yellow pages.

The sand dunes attract many people from all regions of the world to Yuma. They are called Algodones Dunes. This is a large recreation area. They are located six miles west of Yuma. A plant called Milk weed is found in the area of the dunes and this plant is listed as an endangered species. These dunes were also used to film parts of some movies.
