San Jose is a city in California and it is the third largest city. It is located on the south end of the San Francisco Bay. A long time ago it was a small farming city. This city was founded in 1777. This city remained an agricultural center for about 150 years. This area is known for its subtropical climate. The sunshine is nice as the city is surrounded by mountains on three sides. It is sheltered from rain and it only receives about 14.4 inches of rainfall a year. This area does not have large drops or rises in temperatures like other areas of California. The hillsides and fields turn green with rich vegetation during the winter and spring. When the summer arrives, the hills turn a golden color. During this time, there are a few grass fires. It is rare to have snowfall here.

The population of this city is near to 950,000. The economy of San Jose consists of high-tech engineering, computers, and microprocessor companies.
