The next level of security is local security guards who must maintain control of an event or react to an emergency. For this type of security work you need to be trained in crowd control and emergency medical response. Your company will provide all training you need. You will work events for communities and conferences in your area. You are to control crowd entry and exit and many times you will have to ask people to leave an event due to their behavior. You will need training on how to ask someone to leave so as not to create a larger problem. You do not want to get into a conflict with another person if at all possible. It is not a personal issue when you are responsible for security of an event or place. For local security guards who require a more intense training many times current or ex police officers and military personnel will be hired. They have the training and background to handle situations without becoming emotionally involved. They have the training and at times the right to carry a firearm during work hours. They are well trained and know when they can and cannot pull a firearm for protection. If you do not have a background in police work or the military, you may have to find outside training on your own and earn the right to work higher security jobs by starting at the bottom and proving your ability. This is a job that feels safer with men and military or police personnel. If you are female with good training you may still have to prove yourself to reach the top. You do this by doing your job and not by challenging anyone elses ability. Local security guards for many jobs observe and report only and this is a great job for retired persons who need more income or someone who is disabled. The job does not always require chasing down the bad guy, but the ability to observe and make a decision to have an activity further investigated. Anyone can work as local security guards and the work is fun. You will have times when you are bored but will continue to do the job you were hired for. But when the excitement starts there is nothing like it. Its a fun way to earn extra money for anyone from housewife, retired citizens, students or anyone who needs a little more income. There is always a need for local security guards so contact a local source and ask about job requirements. It may be the right job for you.
