Loveland, Colorado is a well known city in northern Colorado. It is located approximately 50 miles north of the Mile High city of Denver. Loveland sits at 4,982 feet above sea level, slightly lower than Denver's mile high status. The city of Loveland, Colorado was founded in 1877. It was originally an agricultural town known for sugar beets and cherry orchards. It has grown to a modern, busy city of over 65,000 people.Loveland has a semi-arid climate. Sunshine is plentiful and the air is dry. Summer temperatures range from the low 80s to mid 90s. Winters are relatively mild with temperatures in the 30s and 40s. Loveland has its own museum, recreation center, senior center, and three golf courses. Many traditions and activities revolving around Valentine's Day take place in the Sweetheart City during February. One of the most well known traditions is Loveland's valentine remailing program. The city receives valentines from all over the world to be remailed through Loveland's post office. A special postmark is stamped on the valentines that are remailed through the program. Volunteers help with the stamping of close to 200,000 cards and letters that are sent from Loveland each February. Loveland, Colorado is a very special and beautiful city with plenty of activities.
