About Superior

Encompassing 4 square miles of land in both Boulder and Jefferson Counties in Colorado, the town of Superior is populated by 12,900 residents. With a rich history in coal mining, the town has more recently become a small and quiet ranching town, farming as well. The bike race draws hundreds of people to the beautiful mountain roads of Superior to enjoy and participate in the event. Although coal was discovered here in 1894, the town itself wasn't founded until 1896 and incorporated in 1904

Another draw of this town is its inclusion in the Boulder County school district, with high-achievements and very impressive test scores.
