It was built on the area known as crown point which was the highest point in early Adams County. It became Westminster University and the City of Westminster was named in honor of it shortly after. The climate of this city is very moderate. There is a large open space system in this city. The Big Dry Creek Trail is in this system. Trails along the open space are good for jogging, biking, and wildlife viewing. Many parks are in this area with access to hiking trails. Horseback riding is a popular activity to enjoy.
