About Danbury

It was 1685 when settlers first made their way into Danbury, with a total of eight families moving into the area. These settlers called the area Swampland until it was changed to Danbury by the general court. Danbury played an important part in the American Revolutionary War. The city served as a military supply depot for the Continental Army. Major General William Tryon looted and burned the city on April 26th and April 27th, 1777.
