East Hartford, Connecticut is a town of almost fifty thousand people located in Hartford County, Connecticut. The land was inhabited by Native Americans before being settled in the mid-sixteenth century. The town itself was establish in 1783. It is located in the central Northern region and in the River Valley of Connecticut. Situated on the historic Hockanum River, which provides a beautiful view and plenty of activities to be done on the river. There are several historic landmarks and buildings in East Hartford that the local government is committed to preserving. East Hartford is home to the headquarters of Pratt and Whitney manufacturing plant, which makes aircraft engines. Pratt and Whitney also have a public museum to commemorate their history of making aircraft engines. East Hartford also has a Coco-Cola bottling plant. Goodwin College was founded in 1999 and is located in East Hartford as well. It was named after one of the initial settlers of the region, William Goodwin.
Goodwin College is a well established school that specializes in health care and education. East Hartford is about one hundred miles from the Yale, the Ivy League University, and also about one hundred miles from New York, New York.East Hartford is a great place to enjoy all four seasons. There is snow in the winter and sun in the summer and the beautiful transitions of spring and autumn in between. East Hartford is a quaint city with a small down town perfect for strolling through. Being that it is a region inhabited for hundreds of years, it is rich in American history. The local town government is accessible and helpful. There is a active parks and recreation program that schedules family friendly events for every season. East Hartford has an excellent school system with different types of schools that would suit the needs for any child. East Hartford also has two well-stocked public libraries. There are a couple of museums in East Hartford including the Wadsworh Atheneum Museum of Art and the Mark Twain House and Museum. East Hartford, Connecticut is a lovely and historic family-friendly town.
