Nestled on Florida's southwest coast, between Naples and Ft Myers, is the quaint little beach town of Bonita Springs, Florida. The area was first discovered in 1870 by a group of government surveyors who ironically decided to name the area Survey. In 1887, Survey was a community of sparsely scattered homesteaders and the first public school was built. Then in 1912, developers decided that the name, Survey, was too mundane and wasn't exciting enough to garner any serious growth interest. After serious consideration, the town was renamed to Bonita Springs. Recent discoveries now place man in the Bonita Springs area well over 8,000 years ago. Bonita Springs residents voted to incorporate the town in 2000; although the area primarily remains a retirement and second home community. Bonita Springs is beginning to experience some growth in the number of new businesses due in part to low business taxes and an abundance of inexpensive commercial office spaces in the area. Visitors can find a plethora of restaurants and businesses in the Bonita Springs, FL Business Directory.
