The city of Miami Beach is located in Miami-Dade County in Florida. It is actually located on a barrier island, which lies between Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. 55% of Miami's population is foreign and population is around 88,000. The south beach area of Miami Beach is the most popular of the beaches in the area as it allows for topless sunning on specific areas of the beach. The Jewish community is large in Miami Beach and there are many yeshivas and synagogues one can visit. Many Jewish families come here to retire, or just visit when the weather gets cold up north. There are several nice kosher dining locations located here as well.Miami Beach is also a place that many gay men and lesbians flocked to move in the 80s and 90s, which helped to revitalize the beach area. They restored hotels and clubs and started their own businesses, which helped to regain culture for the beach. Since the beach became such a large tourist location, there are sometimes arguments between cultures as to the beach being as friendly with gays as it once used to be.The climate in Miami Beach, FL is that of a tropical monsoon. Summers are hot and very humid and the winters are fairly warm. Summer months do hold spurts of wetness and the winters are typically very dry. Snow is one thing that has never been noted or recorded in the weather history of Miami, Florida. Being located on the Atlantic Ocean, but around the Gulf makes it inclined to be hit with a hurricane or bad tropical storm now and again.
