Urbandale is a city in the state of Iowa, and it is located in both Polk and Dallas counties. The population is roughly 39,700 people and it covers an area of 20.7 miles, all of it being land and no water. Incorporated as a city on April 16, 1917, Urbandale's early days were spent as the end of the Urbandale Line when the proposed plans to build a railroad from Des Moines to Woodward were abandoned. It wasn't until recent years that Urbandale expanded and had areas in Dallas County; however, most of the developed areas are in Polk County. All it takes to see the local businesses, many in the insurance and energy industries, is a look through the Urbandale, IA Business Directory.
Another look at the Urbandale, IA Yellow Pages, and you will see the recently renovated library and revitalized downtown area. On 4th of July, residents and those of neighboring towns are treated to a wonderful fireworks show and parade. The community is friendly with a great Parks and Recreation department planning many activities for kids, as well as many volunteers helping seniors with everything they need, be it gardening or a doctor's visit. the 39% job growth over the past decade is also a big draw for families and individuals looking to settle into a friendly community.
