About Chicago

Chicago weather is one of such a variety that a cliched saying was created possibly just for this city, If you do not like the weather, wait a few minutes. The weather in Chicago can change rather dramatically in a single day. One could have a nice day at the beach on a day with bright sunshine and humid heat, only to have the body confused by the sudden change of a drop in temperature brought on by sun showers. Winter can vary from a snowy blizzard to 50 degree temperatures. A tag name for Chicago is the windy city, and although it is named that more for political reasons, it is in fact windy. Most days there is a good breeze going, and if it is stormy weather, then the winds really pick up.

When stepping out in Chicago, you need to make sure you have checked the weather forecast. Also make sure you have, in your home and or car, a coat, hat, gloves, etc. for cold weather, jacket for cool weather, and an umbrella. A good way to find a decent price and also stores in your area in case you need a replacement umbrella is the Chicago, Illinois yellow pages or the Chicago, Illinois business directory. A couple of stores close by would be a good thing to know, so that you are not left dripping wet on a spring day in Chicago.

The weather plays a large role in things to do in the city, too. A rainy day begs for indoor activities or messy days out with the children. Cool nights require a light jacket to be out on the town, and a sun filled day can be the host for many barbecues. Although the rain can sometimes be a damper on outdoor plans, it can also be a fun afternoon if it is not a thunder and lightning storm. If you have kids, they will have a lot of fun splashing in puddles and adults sometimes thrive from reverting to childish play. In the winter, snow is a great frozen toy for all ages. From building snowmen and forts, to snowball fights, it is good exercise and lots of fun. Whatever the temperature and precipitation, Chicago is well loved by longtime residents and a nice getaway for tourists.
