Unlike powder coating, liquid coating is breathable and it can also be used on plants and seeds. Color coating is a process where paint is applied to the glass. It can be coated in the means of electrochromic process, oil based, matte, enamel, air-dried, or self-adhesive.

Glass tinting is sometimes used to reduce the glare of light and decrease the level of heat that is entering the building or a car. It can be done either in a chemical process or applying a window film to either on or between glass sheets after it has been made.
