More on Licensed Massage Therapists

The next step would be to get into a training program. There are a ton of Swedish massage schools and some are even offered online. Whatever local Licensed Massage Therapists school you decide to go, just make sure that it is regionally accredited. You will need to have at least 500-600 hours of training before getting licensed. Some students can complete the program a lot faster if they double up on their classes. These classes usually include mock sessions where the student will practice massages on other students. Some students (depending on the program) will graduate with a degree or a certificate. While all states do not require Licensed Massage Therapists to become certified, it is a good idea as it can land you more jobs. Because the competition is so fierce, being certified can help you land jobs in various fields. Each accredited school should be able to provide their students with a list of requirements needed for getting certified in your particular state. Some exams will be offered by the Federation of Massage State Boards. The reason this job is so lucrative is because you can start your own business easily. Massage therapists can charge a lot of money, no matter if they are new in the business or a seasoned professional. Most massagers charge around $15 dollars per hour (if they work for a company or agency). For your own business, you can triple that rate to at least $50 dollars per hour. If you are not comfortable working for yourself, then there is a lot of different salaried jobs available. The massage school you attend should have a plethora of information on the subject.
