About Arts & Entertainment
From all over the world, people flock to movie theaters for entertainment and fun. When people think movies, they think of the latest and greatest of imaging technology and the actors that play in them of course. From James Dean to Brad Pitt, actors and movies have been a part of American culture for many, many years. Now days you can go see the new 3D movies at the movie theater, but you couldn't have those new 3D movies without the basic films of the past. So where did movie theaters originate? The movie theater was originally called a movie palace because of the big spaces and sometimes extravagant buildings (and the fact they wanted to attract as many customers as possible). Movie theaters appeared around sometime in the late 1800s, and became a very popular trend. When a vacant retail store was up for sale, Moe Mark and Mitchell Mark took advantage of this and created the first movie theater in New Orleans, Louisiana. The theater had featured a vatascope projector from Thomas Edison's company. Although movies at the time had no sound and were short filmed because of their technology, it still was the takeoff for something much more than either of them had imagined.

More on Movie Theater
The feature film market finally established itself and in 1915 the release of The Birth of a Nation. A wide variety of theaters started popping all over the place. Mainly, these theaters designed themselves to be extravagant buildings, with beautiful architecture. Some of the themes went anywhere from Chinese themed theaters to just painting the sky on the ceiling. Even Egyptian styled and Persian themes were accepted to spice up the mood. These movie palaces were intended to create a atmosphere, and of course to attract customers from all over. During the Depression and World War 2, theaters had changed drastically due to low finances. They were decorated simply compared to the extravagant palaces of the 20s. Even the movies had changed from entertainment to information purposes. During World War 2, you could pay a couple cents on the dollar just to find out what was going on in the war and the world around it.Nowadays, there are really no unique theaters like the past offered. Now are mainly movie franchises that look pretty much the same. In spite of this though, the cinema has advanced greatly over the years and offers new technologies to make your movie experience better. Viewers may even be inside the movie one day.
