Not just the birthplace of Elvis Presley, this town has a rich history, amazing sights, and a bountiful table set with colorful and delightful food. First named Gum Pond before the Civil War, Tupelo, Mississippi hosts a Gumtree art festival for the black gum trees that the town was originally named for. Historically, the Civil War left a mark on the city. The Battle of Tupelo was fought for control over the railroad the supplied the Union army.
