About Bozeman

Bozeman is located in the southwestern part of beautiful and scenic Montana. It has a population of 37,280 people, which makes it the fourth biggest city in the state. Bozeman is surrounded by majestic mountains that circle all around this town. The Bridger Mountains, The Tobacco Root Mountains, the Big Belt Mountains, parts of the Gallatin Range, and areas of the Madison Range mountains protect Bozeman with a wall of stone. If you truly want to experience the beauty of the big sky country, you should visit Bozeman, MT. Bozeman, MT was first discovered when William Clark first traveled into the area in July of 1806. Before then, Bozeman, MT was a place that native Americans from tribes like the Sioux, and Shoshone called the Valley of the Flowers. In 1863, John Bozeman and a man named John Jacobs opened the Bozeman Trail, which would later be known as simply Bozeman, MT. The town was platted a year later in 1864, and the town's fertile land attracted many permanent settlers.

Compared to the rest of Montana in the past 40 years, Bozeman's population has grown fast. It is the location for Montana State University, so this town has a lot of college aged residents. Bozeman has a large amount of snowfall in the winter, and warm summers, though due to its elevation, drastic temperature changes can be seen between morning and night. The highest temperatures ever recorded in Bozeman was a sweltering 105 degrees back in July of 1892, and its lowest temperature was recorded at -43 degrees in February of 1936. It has a location that is about 90 miles away from the oldest national forest in America, Yellowstone National Park, and it has majestic mountains and breathtaking scenery for you and your family to enjoy. Bozeman has a rich history and is full of ghosts of days gone by, and when you visit this town, you can feel the spirit of the days of a historic America that was filled with cowboys and Indians.
