The dentil cornice, remnants of a two-tier regimented portico, intricately carved mantels, trim, and stair detailing, and several six-panel doors with superb, graining are examples of sophisticated national fashion. After being neglected for centuries after the Civil War and the last Eldridge family member left for Texas, the Bolling Eldridge house is being restored after regaining possession of the house in the 1960s.
