Sitting flat on the west bank of the Red River of the North and founded in 1871, Fargo began a meager existence as a rough and tumble frontier town with its share of bordellos and saloons. The cheap, fertile farmland of the Red River Valley was very attractive to travelers and settlers alike. Approximately twenty years later in 1893 the town was set back severely when on June seventh more than thirty one blocks of buildings were decimated by fire. This did not deter the residents; they built anew and the post-conflagration city was more attractive than ever to outsiders. The intersection of an economic center, Fargo is a hub for retail, health care, education and manufacturing. All of which can be found in the Fargo, North Dakota business directory or the Fargo, North Dakota yellow pages.
The little city offers a competitive library and several higher education buildings and facilities. Despite its small size, Fargo is a cultural depot. With live theater, art deco movie houses, and museums there is always plenty to do before bedtime. All of these can also be found in either the Fargo, North Dakota business directory or the Fargo, North Dakota yellow pages. For the golf enthusiast, Fargo features an abundance of courses for those just beginning or for the professionals. In the spring and fall the weather holds true and the breeze lifts scents of flowers into the air. The summer tends to get a bit muggy and hot and the winters are known for freezing, snow laden days.
Fargo, North Dakota may have started out as rough and tumble but time and progress have refined it and its sense of worth. The city is still growing to this day and the employment opportunities keep rolling in with the tide of luck that Fargo seems to have wrapped around its proverbial finger. It has been ranked the best small town to start a career or a family in. Fargo also hosts several collegiate and semi-professional ball teams. Although this city has been hit with floods, torrential downpours and blizzards it is still going strong.
