When you walk in the door, immediately you notice that it is a casual dining steak house designed after Australian-style steakhouses, done American style. Today, there are over 670 domestic Outback restaurants, and as of 2012, there are over 110 international restaurants. The owners, Bob Basham, Trudy Cooper, Chris Sullivan and Timothy Ganon joined together and in 1988 and opened the first Outback Steakhouse in Tampa, Florida. Their design was an affordable restauant with a simple, but delicious menu. The concept took off, and it wasn't long before they were selling franchise rights overseas for Outback Steakhouse.

All steaks used to be prepared by grilling in butter on a super-hot griddle, but with today's trend toward healthy foods, they can be grilled upon request.
