About Concord

The history of Concord, NH is long. It began as the Plantation of Parish in beginning as the English moved in, then later became the Township of Rumford. Eventually, it was settled by Concord settlers and was again renamed, this time as the City of Concord. There were many battles for the ownership of the land even after it was originally settled. Many families who were original settlers were displaced in favor of others who had the newly formed government to back them as Massachusetts and New Hampshire became independent colonies.Canterbury Shaker Village is a must see tourist attraction located in Concord, NH. Included in a tour of this attraction will be a guided trip through the various buildings, customs, ways of life, and tools, which were used during the Shaker period. It is a wonderful way to develop an understanding of the history of the area. One might also consider a trip to the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center where you can enjoy many different exhibits as well as explore the world of science. The McAuliffe Planetarium was built by the state in honor of the first teacher to travel into space.
