Your governor can ask for help from your local National Guard whenever there is a natural disaster such as an earthquake, a fire or a storm. Most of the people who work for your local National Guard work there part-time. Their service period usually consists of 1 weekend each month as well as a 2 week training period each year. This allows the members of your local National Guard to maintain a civilian life while also enjoy the benefits of military life at the same time, which means that they will receive an excellent benefits package, money for education and an opportunity to develop their career skills. They will even earn a paycheck on a regular basis and retirement benefits. You may wish to consider becoming a member of your local National Guard.
