Jemez Springs is a village in Sandoval County, New Mexico and was populated by 375 as of the 2000 census. Covering 4.8 square miles of total area, all land, Jemez Springs sits atop an elevation of 6,198 feet above sea level. It is situated in the Jemez Mountains, being located entirely within the Santa Fe National Forest and sited on the Jemez River in the red rock San Diego Canyon. Although Jemez Springs' post office opened in 1907, it is thought the villages has been inhabited for the past 4,500 years with the visiting Spaniards reporting of multiple Native American villages.
