Carson City, Nevada is the state capital of Nevada and a lovely vacation spot. Carson City was once called Eagle Valley back in 1843. John Fremont was the one that named it this and Carson River ran right through the city. In 1858, the city renamed the settlement Carson City, and this would soon be future location of the capital building. After gold and silver were discovered in 1859, the population in Carson City expanded. The Warm Springs Hotel was built in the town and the capital was selected to be here now and in 1864 when Nevada was named an official state, the capital was confirmed here in Carson City. The actual capital that stands today was built in the late 1870s. The United States Mint ran a branch mint here, which made lots of gold and silver coins. A big part of the tourism in Carson City is the gaming and entertainment aspect. Many casinos allow for hours of family fun. There are casinos that have slot machines, table games, rooms for poker, and keno in lounges. Carson City has a casino today that has been voted the friendliest casino for 9 years in a row.
