New Rochelle is an urban city in the impressive state of New York. Sustainability is very important to the community leaders of New Rochelle. The concept is quickly spreading through out this water front city. Almost seventy five thousands people inhabit this area. The cost of living is high with the average home costing more then $600,000. Rent is high. Income is at the upper end of the scale. Diversity is something the community is proud of. Many different races are represented in this suburban town. Neighborhoods are a mixture of high rises, single family homes, condos, and lofts above businesses.Summers bring special events to the community. Children's festivals are enjoyed in the local parks. Art and cultural events are everywhere for seniors, adults, and children to enjoy. The waterfront is full of beach areas where swimming, picnicking. and sun bathing are abundant. A useful bus and train system service the area and it is easy to navigate through out the community. Roads are maintained and snow removal is done on a regular basis in the winter months. It can be very cold here, so ice and snowy conditions are an issue.
The school system is one of the best in the state. They have some unique ideas about the way they educate their students and test scores show it is paying off. Excellent private schools are also available for those who choose this type of education. Students have the use of soccer and baseball fields. Basketball and volleyball are also popular in this area. Many students go on to higher education. It is easy to do in the area.
