More on County Government Offices

Like other government agencies, local county government offices are typically closed in the late afternoon and on holidays. Some may have extended hours one or two days per week or be open for half a day on Saturday. Hours are posted and can be easily obtained. There are certain matters that local county government offices may not be able to assist you with. This may include but is not limited to unemployment services, some child and family services, and generally anything out of county jurisdiction. In this case, many will direct you to the state or federal agency that can be of assistance. Local county government offices accommodate those who are disabled or otherwise may need assistance and are required to do so by law. Those who do not primarily speak English may be provided with an interpreter and can receive documents in the language in which they understand. In addition, the offices are handicap accessible and service animals are permitted. Local county government offices are there to serve the local community. This is one of their sole purposes. Listings and contact information for the individual office can usually be found in the front of the phone book under county government.
