About Allentown

Allentown, Pennsylvania is the third largest city in the state. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 118,032. If you're a history buff, then you may remember Allentown as the place where the early Americans hid the Liberty Bell from the British. The city was incorporated in 1811, but was settled and developed much earlier by the William Allen family. In fact, the city was first plotted and developed in 1735 when William Allen bought the property from his then business partner. Today the city has a number of historic buildings that allow one to embark on an early American history journey.

Allentown is a fairly large city, with approximately 18 square miles of land being used for residences, retail shops, office buildings, and manufacturing plants. The city sits along the eastern border of Pennsylvania in a deep valley surrounded by the beautiful Blue Mountain. The Lehigh River runs through Allentown and provides transportation and a beautiful backdrop. Allentown enjoys all seasons of the year, with slight variables depending on the weather patterns for the area. The city can receive a great deal of snow one year and little or light snow the next.
