Memphis is a very fascinating city in its own respect and it is not just because it is the home of King of Rock and Roll Elvis Presley. Memphis, Tennessee is a very diverse place for a number of reasons and is in the southwestern region of the United States. The city itself sits on the Chickasaw Bluff and is located south of the Mississippi and Wolf rivers as well. Its official county seat is called Shelby County and it has a population of 670,100 people. Nonetheless, it is also home to America's third-largest planetarium and IMAX Theater. This museum also houses many exhibits that are connected from archeology to chemistry and beyond. Mud Island River Park is mainly famous for its unique River Walk. The River Walk is a working scale model that is half a mile in length and actually allows visitors to stroll in the water. Visitors will not only see replicas of cities and bridges as they stroll along the journey. But they will get to know the area of the Lower Mississippi River from Cairo, Illinois to New Orleans and the Gulf of Mexico intimately. Mud Island River Park is in downtown Memphis at Mud Island. Sun Studio is open for tours to visitors. It is the famed recording studio in Memphis, Tennessee where Elvis Presley first recorded some songs. These songs were no other than "That's When Your Heartaches Begin" and "My Happiness." Some of the other musical celebrities who first made it big on the Sun label include Carl Perkin, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, to name a few. Sun Studio is both a museum and a recording studio that is still in use today.

Memphis, Tennessee is a wonderful place to explore and get to know personally. This is because it has so much to offer the newcomer in many ways. It is a truly southern place that is filled with history and grace.
