About Nashville

Nashville, Tennessee is known as "Music City USA" as it is home to country music. Located in the north central part of Tennessee, Nashville is the capital of Tennessee and the second largest city in the state just behind Memphis. According to the 2008 Census Bureau, Nashville had a population of 626,144 people.

One of the most serious tornadoes recorded in history occurred in Nashville. April 16, 1998 was the date an F3 tornado was strike the downtown area of Nashville. The area was closed for four days after windows were broken and roofs strewn upon the streets. More than 300 homes were damaged and many injuries sustained. Luckily, only one person was killed during this tragedy. Another tragedy hit Nashville in April of 2010 as a flood devastated the city, taking lives in its path and destroying cars, homes, and personal possessions. Almost 30 lives were lost during the flood. The flood caused substantial damage to families and businesses throughout the city, forcing many businesses to close their doors permanently. Families are still trying to rebuild their lives from the flood and millions of dollars in damage was reported.

On the lighter side of Nashville, there is plenty of fun things to do in the city. Great museums and attractions house memorabilia for anyone who enjoys country music.
