Allen, Texas is located in the north eastern portion of the state. The 2010 census reported the city at a population of 84,246. The city covers a land area of 27.1 square miles. The Allen area was first settled before the civil war in the 1840s. The area grew once the railroads made their way out west and brought more and more settlers along the railway.
