The city is home to many affluent residents and has a shining downtown district that makes for a unique destination for anyone visiting the state of Texas. Grapevine has a subtropical humid climate like much of the rest of northern Texas. This means the summers will be very hot and the winter months very mild, as compared to northern states in the US. There are several parks setup around the lake area that can be used any time of year for picnics or outdoor fun.

The Grapevine economy is mostly made up of the DFW airport jobs. The airport employs more than 16,000 people at their location. The next highest employers are the Gaylord Texan Resort Hotel & Convention Center, the school district, and UPS. Smaller businesses in the area also employ numerous people in the community and also provide much of the commercial character of the city. Professional firms, both large and small, also help to bolster the local economy. To learn more about the local businesses, be sure to check out the Grapevine, Texas Business Directory. But the transients rarely leave the confines of DFW. Those who do leave the airport may shop at the Grapevine Mills Mall, stay a night at the Gaylord Texan, or take up fishing on the Grapevine Lake. Businesses and restaurants in the community are very good at catering to the out-of-state folks. Check out the local downtown district that has been revamped and rejuvenated over the years.
