Ogden is a city located in the city of Weber County, which is in the State of Utah. As of the 2010 Census, the population was 82,825. It is a city that has served mostly as a railway hub for a good deal of its history, in fact, it stills serves in such a role; to this day it mainly handles freight, which makes it a convenient location for manufacturing and commerce. It is located 10 miles from the Great Salt Lake and 40 miles from Salt Lake City as well as being at the foot of the Watsach Mountains. The city has a length of 26.5 square miles.

Ogden is considered a major city, which encompasses all of Weber, Morgan, and Davis County. According to Forbes Magazine in 2010, Ogden was listed as No. 6 as being one of the best places to live in the United States.Ogden was originally called Fort Buenaventura when it was founded and established by settler Miles Goodyear in 1846. The following year, it was purchased by the Mormons for $1,950, being re-named Brownsville for Captain James Brown and was eventually re-named Ogden, for a general who had trapped there a generation earlier, it was discovered.Summers in Ogden are hot, getting as hot as 95 F or in some cases even 100 F. Winters are moderately cold, reaching 37 F; snow can be as high as 23.67 inches, or nearly 2 feet of snow. Rainfall is generally infrequent, occurring mainly between mid-July to mid-September.

The demographics of the households in Ogden consist of over 30,000, 30,338 to be exact. It it made up of various ethnicities, over 75 % White, 2.2 % African Americans, 1.4 % Asians, 0.3 Pacific Islanders, as well as 15.87% of other races.The city consists of mainly middle-classed families, the median income being $34,047 for a household and $38,950 for a family. Its mayor is Matthew Godfrey, who has served three terms thus so far.
