About Olympia

For those of you who do not know, the city of Olympia, WA is located in the upper western region of the United States, in the great state of Washington. Olympia is most familiar for being a major point of interest to the Puget Sound, which is known as bodies of water that connect to the Strait of Juan de Fuca, Pacific Ocean and the minor connection being the Deception Pass. The Puget Sound connects the north and south areas of the city and also serves as a major tourist attraction for many whom plan, or just pass through the region.

The history of Olympia, WA dates back to that of 1792, when the so called Europeans marked their first visit. Peter Puget and others then decided to launch a charter of the city, which was then incorporated on January 28th 1859, within the county of Thurston, Washington. The city of Olympia stretches 18.5 sq mi and as of 2010 has grown in population over the years from 1,200 thousand to over 46,000. The climate of the city is known to be quite rainy during the months of November and December. Otherwise there is cold, cloudy, and misty air with an abundance of for and cloudiness, but do not get thrown off due to unpleasant weather because, the city is known for its famous artesian waters, which reach the ground surfaces, through natural pressures. Efforts to preserve the water resulted in a $50,000 dollar gift and some of the pubs and breweries in the city contain artesian wells as well. Otherwise, the city of Olympia, WA does contain may other great amenities. The city is famous for the Capitol Theatre, which is home to the Olympia Film Society, great facilities to travel by bus and rail with major connections to other cities and some famous names, such as Kimya Dawson (American singer and song writer) and Caitlin Kittredge (dark fantasy novelist).
