About Tacoma

Tacoma, WA is a mid sized port city, which is located in Pierce County, WA. It is about 35 miles from Seattle, and 31 miles from the capital, Olympia, WA. Tacoma is the second largest city in the Puget Sound area, and the third largest in the state of WA. The name Tacoma, originated, and means City of Destiny, due to the area it was chosen as the western terminal of the northern pacific railroad, during the late 19th century. The railway was originally used to connect passengers from rail to sea more easily, and this was what the city's history was founded on.

Tacoma is pretty much in the center of the Puget Sound area, and is pretty centralized in the state of WA itself. It is a connector for major cities around the area, including Seattle, Fort Lewis, and other large cities in WA.
